Yinka Moses: Accountability, sustainability and climate action

Accountability is frequently misunderstood or insufficiently mobilised in advancing environmental and climate objectives. This talk critically examines how accountability can be strategically embedded within sustainability and climate action frameworks to generate meaningful, measurable and enduring outcomes. Moving beyond abstract rhetoric, the session interrogates who should be held accountable, for what purposes, and through which institutional and governance mechanisms. It draws connections between global sustainability frameworks, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and the design of data-driven, evidence-based climate policies. Participants will gain practical insights into strengthening climate accountability through effective leadership, multi-stakeholder engagement and integrated planning, alongside critical reflection on current policy initiatives and implementation challenges.
