Turbulent Times Participatory Theatre Group - Embodying Climate Resilience: A Workshop
Embodying Climate Resilience is a participatory theatre workshop exploring how ‘climate stories’ live in our bodies, and how through attention to the narratives we - and those around us - are embodying, we can build resilience as individuals and communities.
The Embodying Climate Resilience workshop will draw on practices from (for example) Theatre for Living, The Work That Reconnects and Non-Violent Communication, unpacking social narratives about climate change and living in turbulent times to orient and enrich all participants’ understanding of themselves and their lives at this critical juncture.
In this container we will explore several distinct, coherent ‘stories’ that frame how we understand and perceive the climate moment that we are living through. These stories include - but will ultimately transcend - the wilful denial and polyannaism of business as usual (a ‘pre-tragic’ story), as well as paralysis and grief of climate despair (a ‘tragic’ story), before finally transitioning to exploring a coherent, grounded story of climate resilience (a ‘post-tragic’ story).
We will use embodiment exercises to unpack what it feels like, looks like, sounds like (etc.) to inhabit and operate within each story. We will then use movement and roleplay to unpack various ways that we can respond to, move through and ultimately transcend these stories of our embodied crisis states.

Your facilitators
Rose Archer is a facilitator with a passion for helping people to develop skill and resilience through embodiment work, including Theatre for Living and the Work that Reconnects. Rose has worked for several years in violence prevention education and training, developing and delivering workshops in high schools, community settings and at festivals to raise awareness and skill around consent and community interventions to prevent sexual and partner violence.
