Join us in restoring the mana and mauri of Kumutoto by helping us plant 350 rākau (plants). We will be celebrating the end of Climate Festival Pōneke by grounding ourselves in the ngahere. Bring gumboots or sturdy shoes, gardening gloves and a planting spade if you have them (we’ll have gloves and spades if you don’t), a water bottle and a bowl and spoon. We'll provide hot soup after planting.

The Kumutoto Restoration Project is dedicated to the revitalisation of the Kumutoto awa (stream) and ngahere (forest). Today only 3% of this culturally and historically significant awa remains above ground and the once thriving forest has been reduced to three hectares. Our 100-year vision is to restore the mana and mauri of this important urban space through wānanga, education and community engagement.
