Te Whare Manaaki o Toda and Ozone Climate Theatre Company- Embodied safeties: making emergency preparedness inclusive and relational

Emergency preparedness is often framed in checklists and logistics. This hui invites us to think and feel more broadly. Through creativity, dialogue and shared reflection, we explore preparedness as relationship-building, trust-building and community connection. Because in times of crisis, social cohesion enables communication, coordination and resilience.

This 2.5 hour interactive gathering begins with an embodied climate activation facilitated by Ozone Theatre Company. Participants physically model elements of the climate system- heat, wind, oceans, food systems and more- to experience how interconnected systems respond to stress and disruption. What happens when one element destabilizes? Where are the pressure points? What restores balance? What does safety require-physically, socially and culturally?

This creative process builds a shared, felt understanding before we move into dialogue. We then host a curated panel on the topic of "Who is safe in an Emergency?" with speakers offering lived experience and culturally informed perspectives.
