Route 21 Karori bus stop changes

Consultation has concluded

Metlink and Wellington City Council are committed to making public transport safe and accessible to all in our communities.

As part of this, we’re proposing changes to some route 21 bus stops on Beauchamp Street and Verviers Street in Karori.

What we're proposing

  • Removing two stops (4393 and 4394) to optimise the distance between bus stops – resulting in an increase of four on-street parking spaces.
  • Making two stops fully accessible (4392 and 4395) – resulting in the loss of four on-street parking spaces.
  • Installing one new shelter (4395).
  • Upgrading one existing shelter (4392).

The overall number of on-street parking spaces will remain the same.

Why we're proposing these changes

Optimising the distance between bus stops means better access for all and a quicker journey time.

Bus shelters are the number one request by Metlink customers! They encourage people to catch the bus – more people on buses is better for everyone.

Accessible road markings mean buses can get close to the kerb, so everyone can get on and off safely.
