Waitohi will be the home of invention and various experiments!
The new makerspace at Waitohi will be called The Hive: The home of invention and various experiments. Jamie Boorman, Waitohi's makerspace specialist, will be running exciting programmes where people of all ages can learn how to use 3D Printers, give laser cutting a go, and join in on a variety of activities involving robotics, electronics, coding, art, craft and sewing.
Earlier this month, Jamie asked visitors to the current Johnsonville library to help name the new makerspace area at Waitohi. There were some great suggestions and among them was the winning name, The Hive - Home of Invention & Various Experiments. “This name fits our new Makerspace because the space is a place where you can come and create, play and experiment with ideas, technology and your imagination. It is a first for Wellington City Libraries and hopefully a template for similar spaces in the future.” says Jamie.
